Beer and Barley Pre-tour
Are you on the fence about signing up for a pre-tour?
Naturally, with so many amazing Canadian adventures to choose from, this can be a tough decision. However, don’t miss your chance to visit beautiful rural Alberta with the Beer and Barley pre-tour.
Organizer Tommy Wilson is excited to show off the area around Calgary as international visitors will see how the topography and soil types change in only a couple hours; from the thriving grain and cattle operations of the plains all the way down into the Alberta badlands of the Drumheller Valley.
“You're going from these beautiful rolling hills straight to like the cliffs of Mars,” laughs Wilson.
Golden fields of wheat and barley extend out onto the horizon on operations just outside of Olds, but heading straight east, more challenging growing conditions exist. But that hasn’t stopped families from successfully farming in this area for centuries.
And what would learning about Canadian barley crops be without seeing the delicious Canadian brews that come from it, askes Wilson.
“They are passionate about using local ingredients in their beers to create their award-winning sampling. They've got a really great vibe. They're looking to try new things and incorporate new ingredients to make beers and everybody's going to enjoy.”
Of course, no trip to the Alberta Badlands is complete without a trip to the Royal Tyrrell Museum.
The Drumheller Valley is famous for its paleontological discoveries and visitors will be blown away by the treasures that have been unearthed, said Wilson.
